Utilis\u00e9e autrefois comme insecticide\/ vermifuge dans les \u00e9tables; Fut \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9e notamment en fumigation contre les probl\u00e8mes en rapport aux m\u00e9norrh\u00e9es (se r\u00e9f\u00e9rer ici aux ouvrages de Lieutaghi). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rituel fun\u00e9raire. Fait partie des plantes, avec notamment les origans\/marjolaines<\/a>, servant pour l’embaumement des corps durant la p\u00e9riode moderne en Occident ( en raison d’un caract\u00e8re antiseptique).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingr\u00e9dient principal d’une c\u00e9l\u00e8bre boisson alcoolis\u00e9e. Plante particuli\u00e8rement riche sur le plan ethnobotanique: semblant de perception tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rente au nord et au sud de la m\u00e9diterran\u00e9e. Stimulant l’app\u00e9tit sexuel des hommes au sud de cette mer, elle ne touche aucun homme (sauf sous sa version alcoolis\u00e9e) au nord de celle-ci, puisqu’exclusivement f\u00e9minine (avec une perception positive).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emm\u00e9nagogue, donc. Et donn\u00e9e comme abortive \u00e0 haute dose depuis la Gr\u00e8ce antique. Quelques plantes donn\u00e9es comme abortives: Juniperus sabina, la rue, le dictamne, la menthe (pouliot*), le lupin, le cornichon d’\u00e2ne, l’arisotoloche, la capselle<\/a>, le persil, la serpentaire, l’achill\u00e9e millefeuille<\/a>, la centaur\u00e9e chausse-trappe, le millepertuis<\/a>, Galium odoratum<\/a>, Egopode podagraire (?), Melissa officinalis, Carvi, Aneth, Iris<\/a>, Armoise<\/a>, Hysope<\/a>: soit en terme de risque, soit parce que si la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 s’y oppose, il faut pourtant parfois trouver des solutions. L’id\u00e9e \u00e9tant souvent de rendre la future m\u00e8re si malade que le f\u0153tus y passe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cultiv\u00e9es ou non, beaucoup de ces plantes qui furent donn\u00e9es comme abortives se trouvent \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 assez imm\u00e9diate du foyer. Cela interroge sur la place de la femme dans les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s pass\u00e9es. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Il est int\u00e9ressant de constater la r\u00e9putation abortive de la menthe pouliot \u00e0 travers les \u00e9poques … Quand ni la menthe des champs ni la menthe aquatique<\/a>, etc. ne semblent concern\u00e9es (poussant pourtant aussi dans des lieux au moins humides). Cela interroge sur la question de la transmission. Si l’on partait du principe d’une plante jug\u00e9e sous des crit\u00e8res antiques, pourquoi la recommandation de la plante parvient \u00e0 traverser les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9poques, et non la \u00ab\u00a0th\u00e9orie\u00a0\u00bb qui l’a d’abord d\u00e9sign\u00e9e comme ayant ce pouvoir (alors que son efficacit\u00e9 –sous la forme de fumigation vaginale- nous surprend un peu aujourd’hui)???<\/p>\n\n\n\n
